Final 7 of the 19 Demands from Nigerian Doctors

This infographic continues with the remaining demands of Nigerian doctors as part of the 19 Demands put forward by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD). These include:

  1. Downgrading of West African College Membership
Nigeria unfairly devalues certifications earned across West Africa, affecting the progression of doctors.
  2. Non-Issuance of NPMCN Membership Certificates
Without certificates from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, doctors are unable to progress professionally, despite having fully earned these credentials.
  3. Failure to Implement “One-for-One Replacement” Policy
Doctors who leave are not replaced, leading to an overwhelming workload for the remaining staff, which negatively impacts patient care.
  4. Mass Migration (Brain Drain)
Poor working conditions are driving doctors out of Nigeria, further exacerbating the healthcare crisis.
  5. Decayed Infrastructure & Equipment
Doctors are being trained in outdated and unsafe environments, which compromises both their learning and the care provided to patients.
  6. Controversial Non-Medical Consultant Cadres
The introduction of non-medical consultants in clinical roles threatens standards of care and patient safety by blurring professional boundaries.
  7. Non-Implementation of Special Pension Benefits
Despite agreements signed in July 2025, special pension benefits for doctors remain unenforced, undermining their financial security.

This section emphasizes the systemic issues that continue to plague the healthcare sector, calling for urgent reforms to improve working conditions, ensure professional development, and retain skilled doctors.
